The disadvantage of having multiple computers is synchronization. Dropbox is the perfect solution for these situations.
With Dropbox you can easily sync files between multiple computers different – even mobile devices – no matter where you are. This means you can not just use Dropbox to synchronize files between computers, but also to share photos with friends or collaborate on a joint project with coworkers.
Dropbox is super easy to use. All you have to do is install a small client and from that point, you will have a special folder within the My Documents folder. Anything that falls here will be synchronized in the background with dropbox public profile – and therefore accessible online. Dropbox currently offers 2 GB of free storage, which should be enough to share a bunch of files.
Concerned about privacy? No topics. Only computers that link your account will be able to access your files. In addition, Dropbox keeps track of changes, so you can access previous versions of a file. In a way, it works as a backup tool as well, because it keeps copies of files.
Dropbox has a major drawback though: it is painfully slow. Yes, it works in the background and yes, you do not have to be controlling the loading speed of ten seconds, but 30 minutes to upload three photos is just too much for me.
Dropbox is an easy, useful tool which lets you synchronize files online, share and have them always at hand.
