Mobile phones that offer these and more general computing capabilities are referred to as smartphones.

Old phone must be destroyed for the Protection of Personal Data.A Security Firm of Czech Republic “Avast” has extracted thousands of pictures, Emails, text messages & search data, including Personal Photos of peoples from old factory rested phones.

Avast, used publicly available data recovery & security tools to extract the images & other data from old phones bought on Amazon.

The first hand-held cell phone was demonstrated by John F. Mitchell and Dr. Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973, using a handset weighing around 4.4 pounds (2 kg).In 1983, the DynaTAC 8000x was the first to be commercially available. From 1990 to 2011, worldwide mobile phone subscriptions grew from 12.4 million to over 6 billion, penetrating about 87% of the global population and reaching the bottom of the economic pyramid.
Smartphones Experts have warned the users that the only way to completely delete your personal data is to “destroy your phone”.
Most phones come with a “factory reset” option, which is used to clear and reset the all data of phone, returning it to its original system state that is available on first use.
Avast has discovered that some old phones only erase the usage & history of the data and not the data permanently, which means pictures, emails and text messages can be recovered easily by using data recovery tools. These tools can be bought by anyone which means user personal data is not secure & can be used in cyber crime.
Avast claims that he restored 40,000 photos from 20 phones purchased from online shopping, 750 were of women in stages of undressing.

The additional data recovered is 1,500 photos of children, 1,000 Google searches, 750 emails and text messages and 250 contact names and email addresses. The company said: “Deleting files from your old phone before selling is not enough. You need to wipe your files, making them unrecoverable.”It was not made clear by Avast from which handsets they extracted data. Avast has not mentioned the companies of these phones.Print

In the response of this research,Google said that Avast used outdated & old phones and their research did not “reflect the security protections in Android versions that are used by the vast majority of users”.Google give the solution of this problem that all android users enable “encryption” on their devices before applying a factory reset to ensure files cannot be revocable. However, Alan Calder, founder of cyber-security and risk management firm IT Governance, told that erasing data, even after has been encrypted, will not be enough to protect yourpersonal data.
A mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell phone, hand phone, or simply a phone) is a phone that can make and receive telephone calls over a radio link while moving around a wide geographic area. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile phone operator, allowing access to the public telephone network. By contrast, a cordless telephone is used only within the short range of a single, private base station.
