The application is also available for iOS just like all other mobile platforms.WhatsApp was switched from a free to paid service to avoid growing too fast, mainly because the primary cost was sending verification texts to users. In December 2009 WhatsApp for the iPhone was updated to send photos. By early 2011, WhatsApp was in the top 20 of all apps in the U.S. App Store.Using WhatsApp Messenger, you can send messages to each other via internet connection of your service provider e.g. WiFi or 3G networks. You can also send multimedia messages such as pictures, images, music or sounds and videos.

After installing this application, it synchronizes your contacts after entering your phone number and the code which you will receive via SMS. Then you can see a tab with the contact that has WhatsApp Messenger already. You can also send the invitation to the person who has not installed this.

Unofficial WhatsApp applications have been made for unsupported platforms such as webOS (MojoWhatsup), MeeGo (Wazzup) and Firefox OS (ConnectA2).
